Mettle & Ground is a project on judgment, conduct, attention, discipline, and the games that shape a life.

It takes the position that most decisions are made without examination — that effort is committed before the game is understood, that conduct is treated as ornament rather than record, and that what costs a person most is rarely what they were warned about.

The work is a set of frameworks for examining those decisions before they are made and understanding them after. It is written for people who are building something across years rather than winning something in a season.
